England beat France 6-4 in a dramatic World Cup third-place playoff in Miami, with Bukayo Saka scoring a hat-trick as Thomas Tuchel's side claimed bronze for the first time. England raced into a commanding first-half lead before a Kylian Mbappé-inspired France fightback threatened to overturn it, but late goals from Saka and Jude Bellingham secured the win in Didier Deschamps' final match in charge of Les Bleus.

Mbappé, chasing a second consecutive Golden Boot, became the first male player to reach double figures at a World Cup since Gerd Müller in 1970, while Tuchel — who faced boos before kick-off following criticism of his semi-final tactics against Argentina — will hope the result helps rebuild support ahead of Euro 2028.
