San Gregorio Ranch State Beach, one of California's earliest and best-known nude beaches, will require visitors to wear clothing when it officially opens to the public. The change follows its acquisition by the nonprofit Peninsula Open Space Trust, which bought the land last spring with plans to hand it over to California State Parks later this year, ending its long-standing status as a clothing-optional site.

The beach is set to open on 29 July, with clothing mandatory from that date. Its transfer into the state park system marks a shift for a site that had long been regarded as one of the pioneering nude beaches in California.
