Disney has revived its classic "Mickey Mouse Club" franchise, ordering a pilot episode for a new version to air on Disney+. The original show, which first launched in 1955 and was previously revived in 1977 and again from 1989 to 1996, famously served as a launchpad for major stars including Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera and Ryan Gosling, giving young performers a public platform to sing, dance, act and develop their careers.

The new pilot has assembled an 11-person cast drawn largely from animated films, television and social media platforms such as YouTube and TikTok, reflecting how youth entertainment has fragmented since the show's heyday. Cast members include Hudson Stone, Casey Trotter and Brooklynn Pitts, all already attached to the forthcoming "Camp Rock 3", alongside performers from projects including "Elio", "Young Rock", "The Lion King" and "Black Rabbit". Production is set to begin in Los Angeles this month, handled by Fulwell Entertainment, the company behind Hulu's "The Kardashians".
