Posthumous Jimmy Buffett Album to Include Songs ‘That Have Never Been Out,’ Says Coral Reefer Band
Nearly three years after Jimmy Buffett's death, his longtime collaborators have completed a new album drawing from his vault of unreleased material. Mac McAnally and Michael Utley have assembled tracks spanning two decades that never appeared on an official Buffett release, though some were originally written for television, film cameos, and theatrical productions. The collection ranges from pieces created in the early 2000s to recordings from approximately four years ago, representing what McAnally describes as a quality assemblage where Buffett's personality shines through in the vocal performances.
The album awaits both a title and formal release announcement. Beyond the forthcoming record, Buffett's creative legacy continues through the Coral Reefers' ongoing touring schedule and a recent local decision in Key West permitting his Shrimp Boat Sound Studio to serve as both a working recording facility and tourist attraction. The moves reflect the continued commercial and cultural interest surrounding Buffett, whose 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction recognised his four-decade recording career and distinctive lifestyle brand that defined his fanbase.
