Rapper Offset has avoided trial after being accused of assaulting a security guard at a Los Angeles cannabis dispensary in March 2025, with a California judge instead granting him a year-long diversion agreement. Under the order, issued on 15 July, prosecution of the misdemeanor battery charge is paused, and the case will ultimately be dismissed and erased from his record provided he meets all conditions. Offset, born Kiari Cephus, pleaded not guilty and made no admission of wrongdoing as part of the deal.

He had been accused of striking guard Jim Leobardo Sanchez in the face after being asked for identification at a MedMen dispensary near Los Angeles International Airport. Sanchez filed a civil lawsuit in November 2025, which remains pending, before the LA City Attorney's Office brought the criminal charge in December. The diversion terms oblige Offset to complete community service, attend anger management classes, pay restitution to Sanchez, avoid the MedMen location and refrain from any further violence or threats, with a progress hearing set for November; breaching the terms within the year would see the prosecution reinstated.
