Catherine Zeta-Jones's new thriller series "Kill Jackie" has been sold to AMC's streaming service AMC+, which has acquired exclusive US rights to the show. The series, adapted from Aidan Truhen's novel "The Price You Pay", marks a notable acquisition for AMC+ as it builds out its scripted drama slate, and gives the streamer a star-led vehicle from an Oscar-winning actress. The show is due to launch in the autumn.

Zeta-Jones plays Jackie Price, a woman who has spent two decades living a wealthy, anonymous life after leaving behind a past as an international cocaine dealer, only for her cover to unravel when a gang of assassins called The Seven Demons is hired to kill her. She stars alongside Daniel Ings, with the novel's male lead gender-swapped for the adaptation, written by Tom Butterworth and Conor Keane and directed by Damon Thomas. The series already airs on Prime Video in parts of Europe and Canada, with Fremantle and Steel Springs Pictures handling wider sales; AMC executive Dan McDermott praised it as a "bold, character-driven" addition to the platform's lineup.
