An independent autopsy into the death of Mississippi teenager Nolan Wells has returned inconclusive results, with a former medical examiner stating the findings do not point to foul play. Attorney Ben Crump, who is representing the Wells family, disclosed the results at an NAACP event, while civil rights leader Al Sharpton has separately offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case. The teenager's death has drawn national attention and speculation, partly fuelled by the mysterious circumstances of his disappearance.

Wells vanished during a Fourth of July boat trip and was found dead on Horn Island two days later. A Cajun Navy official has suggested that wind and drift patterns help explain how his body came to be found where it was, offering a possible natural explanation rather than a criminal one. Despite the independent autopsy's inconclusive verdict, questions and public interest in the case continue.
