A Police Scotland officer who took his own life in May 2026 has been revealed to have carried out a 14-year campaign of rapes and attempted murders against women, with a source describing it as potentially the force's "Wayne Couzens moment" – a reference to the Metropolitan Police officer jailed for murdering Sarah Everard. PC Alan Greer's crimes were only disclosed by Police Scotland two months after his death, prompting concern about the scale of the abuse and how it went undetected for so long while he served as a serving officer.
