Documentary filmmaker Alex Gibney's years-long examination of Elon Musk will finally reach audiences this autumn following its Venice Film Festival premiere. The 232-minute production represents an ambitious attempt to chronicle the trajectory and impact of the billionaire entrepreneur across his various ventures, with Venice's artistic director suggesting the extensive runtime reflects the documentary's investigation into both Musk's entrepreneurial achievements and the concentration of influence in his hands.

The film's path to completion proved complex, as Gibney initially finished editing in early 2025 before returning to the cutting room to incorporate significant developments in Musk's life and career—including his public political engagement, his proximity to the incoming presidential administration, and SpaceX's historic initial public offering. Theatrical distribution begins in mid-October through Bleecker Street, whilst HBO Documentary Films will hold television and streaming rights for North America.
