Garnacho joins Villa on loan from Chelsea
Aston Villa have announced the loan signing of Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho until the end of the 2026-27 season, with the move becoming permanent next summer if certain criteria are met. The 22-year-old Argentine has already agreed a four-year contract at Villa Park, and his arrival comes as both clubs work to balance their finances following Chelsea's £117m club-record purchase of Morgan Rogers from Villa earlier in the week.
The undisclosed obligation-to-buy clause is expected to be triggered by conditions such as Garnacho's number of appearances next season, with Chelsea confident it will be met and their original £43m valuation achieved. Garnacho joined Chelsea from Manchester United for £40m only last September but managed just one Premier League goal, and his departure follows the arrivals of Rogers and Sporting's Geovany Quenda, which increased pressure to trim the squad. He becomes Villa's fourth summer signing, following Johan Manzambi, Joao Gomes and Modou Keba Cisse, as the club's player sales this summer near £200m.
