CBS To Switch Affiliation From Nexstar To Hearst TV & Forum Communications Stations In A Half Dozen Markets

Deadline · 4 hours ago

CBS will move its affiliation from Nexstar-owned stations to Hearst Television or Forum Communications outlets in six US markets from 1 August. The changes follow affiliation negotiations and underline the continuing pressure on local television stations as national networks and broadcasters seek more favourable distribution arrangements.

CBS will shift to Hearst stations in Albuquerque, Birmingham, Greenville and Jackson, and to Forum stations in Bismarck and Rapid City. Nexstar has renewed CBS affiliations in 36 other markets, but will replace CBS with The CW in at least Jackson, Bismarck and Rapid City, promote Fox to its main Albuquerque channel, and expand local news in several affected areas.

  • CBS changes local affiliates in six markets from 1 August.
  • Hearst gains four CBS affiliations; Forum gains two.
  • Nexstar retains CBS in 36 markets and promotes CW or Fox elsewhere.
