Former “60 Minutes” correspondent Cecilia Vega has alleged that CBS News’s new leadership encouraged her to report claims that she and her team could not verify, including events she says never occurred. Her comments raise concerns about possible editorial pressure and the role of politics or misinformation in news coverage at the network.

Vega, who was dismissed in a shake-up three months earlier, spoke at the National Association of Hispanic Journalists conference in New Orleans. She said her team found no credible evidence of protesters attacking people believed to be undercover ICE agents, and could not find footage of Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey calling for police to fight ICE agents. Vega did not directly accuse CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss of making the requests personally, but linked the changes to the network’s “new administration”.
