PlayStation Network suffered a global outage lasting more than four hours, disrupting game downloads, friends lists, trophies, online connections and the PlayStation Store. The disruption matters because it also prevented some users from verifying digital game licences, limiting access to games they already own.

The outage was likely linked to problems at Amazon Web Services, although AWS later said its own issues had been resolved. Recovery remained inconsistent: some users regained access to the Store or friends list, while others still faced errors, and Sony eventually said all PSN services were affected and it was working on a fix.
