PlayStation Network remained unavailable for hours, with Sony reporting problems across all major services and players still affected after an earlier Amazon Web Services incident was marked resolved. The outage prevented some users from launching digital games, apps and network features, intensifying criticism of Sony’s planned move away from physical PS5 disc releases.
Problems began at roughly 8.30am Eastern time and were reported beyond the United States, affecting PS Vita, PS3, PS4 and PS5 users. Sony said purchases, streaming, account management and gameplay services were affected; the disruption also coincided with the open beta for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, while anger continues over Sony’s plan to cease new PS5 disc releases from January 2028.
