AC/DC guitarist Angus Young has cited Johnny Burnette’s 1956 recording ‘The Train Kept A-Rollin’’ as a guitar break he became obsessed with playing. The passage mattered to Young because its energetic, stripped-back rock and roll style helped shape the direct, riff-led approach associated with AC/DC.

Burnette’s version, recorded with the Rock and Roll Trio, reworked an earlier song into a fast, influential rockabilly performance featuring prominent electric guitar. Young reportedly returned repeatedly to its break while learning guitar, and the song later influenced numerous rock acts, including the Yardbirds and Aerosmith, which recorded their own versions.
