AMC has unveiled a preview of The Walking Dead: Dead City’s third season at San Diego Comic-Con, confirming that Westworld actor Jimmi Simpson will join the cast as survivor Dillard. The season follows Maggie and Negan as they try to work together to rebuild a community in post-apocalyptic Manhattan, despite the unresolved trauma and conflict between them.

The second season ended with New Babylon’s forces advancing through the city and Hershel leaving after Maggie chose not to kill Negan. In the new footage, Dillard speaks with Negan in a bar beside a walker and explains his self-sustaining survival system: maggots feed on walkers, frogs eat the maggots, and the frogs feed turkeys. The preview suggests the series will continue mixing grim survival drama with unusual, darkly comic characters.
