Ghosts showrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman used Comic-Con to preview several storylines for the CBS comedy’s sixth season, including new characters, holiday specials and a landmark 100th episode. The announcements matter because the show will not return for its full season until spring, while two extended specials this autumn will continue the story after Season 5 left Pete’s fate uncertain.

The Halloween special, the series’ first hour-long episode, will introduce Hetty’s previously mentioned sister Margaret, described as a new and unusual type of ghost. The Christmas special will draw inspiration from Die Hard, and one of the holiday episodes will feature the show’s first “ghost-on-ghost possession”; Season 6 will also include the programme’s 100th episode, linked to the fictional reality show It’s Getting Hot in Here.
