Marvel has officially renewed X-Men ’97 for a fourth season, confirming the decision during the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel. The renewal signals Disney and Marvel’s confidence in the animated series after its strong critical reception, and suggests the programme will remain a significant part of the company’s streaming line-up.

The production team has completed work on Season 3 and can now move on to Season 4, which could reduce the lengthy gaps between future seasons. Season 2 reportedly achieved a 100% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, improving on Season 1’s 99%, while the series had already been expected to continue through at least a third season.
