Ryan Murphy’s new FX series, The Shards, will premiere on 5 August 2026, marking his latest collaboration with the network behind American Horror Story. The Los Angeles-set drama combines wealthy teenage life with a serial-killer storyline, continuing Murphy’s interest in dark, provocative television.

Adapted from Bret Easton Ellis’s novel, the series is set in 1980s Los Angeles and follows privileged final-year pupils confronting identity, sex, jealousy and obsession as danger grows around them. A killer is targeting teenagers across the city; the programme will air at 9pm ET on FX and Hulu in the US, and on Disney+ internationally.
