The new season includes Bill being exploited through cuddle therapy, Peggy experiencing menopause, the Hills getting a dog, and storylines involving empty-nest retirement and AI scams targeting older people. Patterson attributes the shift partly to a more settled creative team and shorter 10-episode seasons, which allow more development time; plans for season 16 continue this focus on age-related experiences.
