Robin Williams’s unused outtakes from Disney’s 1992 film Aladdin cannot be used to create new material until at least 2039. The restriction matters because the recordings reportedly contain enough improvised dialogue and jokes to support further exploitation of his Genie character, but Williams retained approval over any reuse.

Williams stipulated that he should have the final say on use of the recordings, preventing Disney from releasing the unused material without his consent. After his death in 2014, his estate also restricted commercial use of his name, image and likeness for 25 years, including in films and advertising, until 11 August 2039.
