PBS SoCal topped the winners' table at the 78th Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards, held on Saturday at the Skirball Cultural Center, matching its 2025 total of eight trophies. The ceremony, hosted by ABC7's George Pennacchio, recognised local broadcasters for coverage including the aftermath of the devastating January 2025 wildfires and reporting on the LA Lakers and Dodgers, underlining the continued importance of regional news and sports journalism in Southern California.

KMEX-TV matched its previous year's tally with seven wins, followed by KVEA with six, and ABC7 and NBC4 with four apiece. Spectrum News 1 and Spectrum SportsNet each picked up two awards, while LA36, Spectrum SportsNet LA and USC Football won one each. KVEA, which swept all three Regularly Scheduled Newscast categories in 2025, retained two of the three this year, with ABC7 taking the 4am–11am slot. ABC7's David Ono received the 2026 Governors Award at the event, produced by Bob Bain Productions.
