At San Diego Comic-Con, director Ryan Coogler announced a third Black Panther instalment with David Jonsson cast in the lead role. The film is scheduled for theatrical release in December 2028, marking a major milestone for both the actor and the franchise.

Jonsson will portray the son of T'Challa, the character originally embodied by Chadwick Boseman, in what Coogler described as the character's coming-of-age narrative. The production brings back cast members Letitia Wright as Shuri and Winston Duke as M'Baku, maintaining continuity with the franchise's trajectory since Coogler's direction of the first Black Panther in 2018.
