Lando Norris claimed his first grand prix victory of the season at the Hungarian Grand Prix, giving McLaren their first win of the year as well. He cruised to a comfortable victory, while the remaining podium places were contested in a tense late battle between Red Bull's Max Verstappen and Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli, with Verstappen narrowly holding on for second.

Antonelli's third-place finish extended his championship lead to 50 points over Lewis Hamilton and 59 over his Mercedes team-mate George Russell, who slipped to seventh after a poor start. Hamilton crossed the line fourth but received a five-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane, dropping him behind Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc to fifth. Norris' team-mate Oscar Piastri had led for much of the first half of the race but retired from second place with a gearbox failure, while Norris' win was aided by a strategy call that reportedly frustrated Piastri.
