Disney and Pixar's "Toy Story 5" has passed $1 billion at the global box office, making it the highest-grossing film of 2026 so far. The film, which sees the toys contend with owner Bonnie's growing obsession with a tablet device called Lilypad, earned $448 million domestically and $573 million internationally for a worldwide total of $1.022 billion, overtaking "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie" and "Michael" as this year's top earner.

It is the third "Toy Story" instalment to cross the billion-dollar threshold, and is set to soon become the franchise's highest-grossing film, surpassing 2019's "Toy Story 4" ($1.07 billion). Directed by Andrew Stanton and featuring the voices of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack, the film opened in mid-June to a series-best $160 million and has benefited from strong reviews and a Taylor Swift original song. It is the third film in 2026 to reach $1 billion, with "The Odyssey" and "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" tipped to follow, putting the year on track for the most billion-dollar hits since before the pandemic.
