Netflix's House of Guinness, a historical crime drama created by Peaky Blinders writer Steven Knight, has proved popular enough to be renewed for a second season shortly after release. The series traces the true story of the Guinness brewing dynasty, following the family's power struggles after the death of patriarch Sir Benjamin Guinness, and has drawn comparisons to both Peaky Blinders and Succession for its blend of period drama and ruthless sibling rivalry.

The show stars James Norton as loyal foreman Sean Rafferty, alongside Anthony Boyle, Louis Partridge, Emily Fairn and Fionn O'Shea as the four Guinness siblings tasked with jointly running their late father's empire, which stretched from Ireland to New York. Set against a turbulent period in 19th-century European politics, the series has been praised for its sprawling scope, strong ensemble performances and its handling of family loyalty and legacy, with Boyle's portrayal of the gay character Arthur singled out as a notable break from typical genre tropes.
