A leaked, high-quality copy of Christopher Nolan's new film The Odyssey was viewed by more than two million people on X after being embedded in a post over the weekend, before the account sharing it was suspended. The incident is notable given Nolan shot the entire three-hour film on 70mm Imax film, intended for viewing on the largest cinema screens possible, making its appearance in a low-resolution social media post particularly ironic to many online commentators.

Variety reported the high-quality version amassed 2.1 million views in two-and-a-half hours on Saturday, while a lower-quality version posted on Sunday gained almost 50,000 views before being taken down within two hours, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Universal Studios said it became aware of the unauthorised posting and "immediately initiated takedown protocols", adding it takes copyright infringement seriously and will pursue remedies to protect its intellectual property. The leak is unlikely to dent the film's box office significantly, as it took $215m (£160m) globally in its second weekend, bringing its total to $640m (£480m).
