Friends, family and fans gathered in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, on Sunday to celebrate the renaming of a stretch of Putnam Avenue as "ODB Jones Way", honouring the late Wu-Tang Clan rapper Ol' Dirty Bastard, born Russell Tyrone Jones. The tribute cements the rapper's lasting connection to the neighbourhood where he grew up, more than two decades after his death, and comes alongside a nearby mural recreating the cover of his 1995 debut solo album.

At the ceremony, ODB's family unveiled the new green street sign as his 1995 track "Brooklyn Zoo" played and the crowd cheered, with relatives receiving ceremonial copies of the marker. His eldest brother, Ramsey Jones, and mother, Cherry Jones, spoke of their pride, noting their grandmother's house stood on the same block. Fans marked the occasion with Wu-Tang merchandise, low-riders and a toast poured from a 40oz bottle, while Wu-Tang Clan shared tribute posts on Instagram beforehand. Ol' Dirty Bastard died of an accidental overdose in a Manhattan recording studio on 13 November 2004, days before his 36th birthday.
