Author Brandon Sanderson's fantasy series Mistborn is being adapted into a tabletop role-playing game before its planned Apple TV film reaches audiences. Saga Concepts is developing the game, set in the series' world of Scadrial, with a confirmed launch date of 16 November 2026. The announcement comes amid a broader boom in fantasy adaptations across television, though it also highlights the contrast between Sanderson's expanding franchise and the cancellation of the Prime Video adaptation of The Wheel of Time, a series he helped complete after original author Robert Jordan's death in 2007.

The new tabletop release will include several products, among them the Mistborn Handbook, which covers game mechanics, and the Mistborn: Legacy Campaign Book, which details key narrative elements. No release date has yet been confirmed for the Apple TV Mistborn film adaptation, which remains in development. The wider fantasy television landscape referenced includes Game of Thrones spin-offs such as House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, alongside Amazon's costly The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, reportedly costing around $1 billion for its first two seasons.
