Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes, the mobile strategy game, has launched a new update called "The Era of Myths & Legends", introducing several previously unseen characters, most notably a Dark Side version of Yoda. The reveal is significant because Yoda is one of the franchise's most enduring and beloved figures, having appeared across the original, prequel and sequel trilogies, making a corrupted version of the character a striking departure for fans. The update also arrives during an eventful year for the franchise, following the strong reception of the Disney+ series Maul — Shadow Lord and the disappointing box office performance of The Mandalorian and Grogu.

Alongside the Dark Side Yoda, the update introduces other new "Legends" characters not previously seen in live-action, including Darth Jar Jar and Mara Jade Skywalker. While artwork for most of the new characters has already been released, Yoda's design is being deliberately withheld to heighten anticipation, and no release date has yet been given for either Dark Side Yoda or Darth Jar Jar. Elsewhere, Maul — Shadow Lord was renewed for a second season before its first had even premiered, while The Mandalorian and Grogu, despite being on track to become the lowest-grossing Star Wars film, has performed strongly since arriving on digital platforms this week.
