Neon has pushed back the release of its adult thriller "A Place in Hell", starring Michelle Williams and Daisy Edgar-Jones, from a planned Christmas Day debut to 23 April 2027. The move follows strong test screenings for the Chloe Domont-directed film, which reportedly showcases fierce performances from both leads and is now seen as having significant commercial potential, prompting Neon to reposition it in a spring slot that has recently favoured sophisticated, female-led films.

The film centres on a formidable criminal defence attorney (Williams) whose career is threatened by a younger rival lawyer (Edgar-Jones) brought in to replace her, with Andrew Scott also starring. The new date allows Neon and Paramount, which handles international distribution, to coordinate a simultaneous global launch. It also places the film alongside recent spring successes such as "Challengers", "The Drama" and "Reminders of Him", while it will face counterprogramming competition from Amazon MGM's "Spaceballs: The New One" and an untitled Warner Bros project on the same weekend. Neon co-financed the picture with MRC and Republic Pictures, with T-Street producing; it is Domont's second feature after her 2023 debut "Fair Play" sold to Netflix for $20 million.
