A Los Angeles judge has ruled that musician d4vd, born David Burke, must stand trial for first-degree murder and related charges over the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Judge Charlaine Olmedo made the decision after a five-day preliminary hearing in which prosecutors laid out graphic evidence, saying they had met the burden of proof on all counts; Burke, 21, will remain in custody without bail and has pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutors allege Burke, who met Rivas Hernandez when she was 11, began sexually abusing her at 13, and that the pair argued shortly before her death, partly over her threat to expose him. They claim he had her brought to his home by Uber, stabbed and dismembered her body, then hid her remains in the boot of a Tesla registered in his name, which was later found at a tow yard; investigators also cited DNA evidence and phone images allegedly linking him to the abuse and killing. An arraignment hearing is scheduled for August.
