The musician Bob Dylan said could play anything: “He’s good with me”
Bob Dylan praised Mike Campbell, the guitarist best known for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, as a musician able to handle virtually any style. The remarks underline Campbell’s reputation as an adaptable, songwriter-focused player and his contribution to Dylan’s 2009 album Together Through Life.
Dylan said Campbell was “good with me” because his long work with Petty had taught him to hear songs from a writer’s perspective. Campbell played on Together Through Life alongside Dylan’s touring musicians and David Hidalgo of Los Lobos; the album was recorded in late 2008 and released in April 2009.
