"The Odyssey," Universal's Christopher Nolan-directed epic, has retained the No. 1 spot at the U.K. and Ireland box office for a second consecutive weekend, while Tamil star C. Joseph Vijay's swansong film "Jana Nayagan" debuted at No. 5. The rankings highlight both the staying power of major event cinema and the growing prominence of Indian-language releases in the U.K. market, with "Jana Nayagan" arriving after a delayed release and against the backdrop of Vijay's recent election as Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister.

"The Odyssey" added £11.8 million ($15.7 million) in its second weekend, a notably light drop that pushed its 10-day local total to £35.3 million ($46.9 million). Disney's "Toy Story 5" and "Moana" held second and third place respectively, while Universal's "Minions & Monsters" took fourth. "Jana Nayagan," directed by H. Vinoth, opened at fifth with $596,324; the film had been due for release in January but was delayed by Indian censors, and an uncut version was released in the U.K. following Vijay's party's May election victory. Further down the chart, "The Invite," "Obsession," "Evil Dead Burn," "Disclosure Day" and "Supergirl" rounded out the top 10, with "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" set to launch wide from 31 July.
