Amandla Stenberg, best known for playing Rue in The Hunger Games and Osha in Star Wars' The Acolyte, is set to headline the fantasy adaptation Children of Blood and Bone, with Paramount releasing the film's first official trailer. The project has generated controversy because author Tomi Adeyemi, who wrote the original novel, has publicly distanced herself from the adaptation, saying she will not watch it and even posting a video of herself blocking Stenberg on social media.

Stenberg plays Amari in the film, which boasts a star-studded ensemble including Cynthia Erivo, Idris Elba, Viola Davis, Regina King, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Lashana Lynch and Saniyya Sidney, among others. The trailer follows Paramount's earlier release of first-look images, and the studio has confirmed the film remains on track for a 15 January 2027 cinema release, despite the article noting an inconsistency by also referencing a January 2025 date.
