A 20-year-old woman from New Jersey has died after falling while visiting the historic ruins of Fort Dade on Egmont Key, a remote Florida island accessible only by boat, according to friends. Victoria Zardoya was touring the site with a group of friends on a Florida holiday when the fatal fall occurred, highlighting the risks posed by the island's crumbling, unguarded fortifications, which draw visitors despite their isolation and lack of formal safety barriers.

Zardoya fell at the mouth of Tampa Bay while exploring the abandoned military structures on Friday. She was a close friend of Milania Guidice, daughter of "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star Teresa Guidice, though Guidice does not appear to have been present at the time of the incident.
