Cynthia Erivo and Damson Idris among stars in Children of Blood and Bone trailer
The first trailer for the film adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi's bestselling fantasy novel Children of Blood and Bone has been released, showcasing a star-studded cast including Cynthia Erivo, Damson Idris and Lashana Lynch. The young adult novel, first in a trilogy, follows Zélie Adebola's quest to restore magic to the kingdom of Orïsha after a ruthless king destroyed it, and the adaptation has generated significant anticipation among fans of the book series.
The trailer features Lynch as Jumoke, mother of protagonist Zélie (played by Thuso Mbedu), alongside Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Amandla Stenberg and singer Ayra Starr, with the film due for release in January 2027. However, the project has been overshadowed by apparent tensions between Adeyemi, who co-wrote the screenplay, and the producers, after she posted messages online distancing herself from promotion and reportedly telling co-star Stenberg not to contact her.
