The project, titled "Flesh Impact," is written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal and marks a striking departure for Johnson, whose casting had reportedly been doubted by the director before filming began.

The short film will premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September, forming part of what is described as Gyllenhaal's fresh take on the Hollywood icon's story. A newly released set photo showed Johnson as a blonde bombshell in character as Monroe, sparking attention ahead of the festival debut.
