Actor Shane McRae, best known for playing Knox in Apple TV's "Silo," has joined the cast of AMC's upcoming stock car racing drama "Thunder Road," Variety reported exclusively. The series, produced through a partnership between AMC and NASCAR, was greenlit in April and is scheduled to launch on AMC and AMC+ in 2027, with Dennis Quaid leading the cast.

McRae will play Scooter Jakes, a veteran NASCAR crew chief and cornerstone of the fictional Whitlock Racing Team, described as "whip-lean, weathered, and predator-calm." Quaid stars as racing legend Duane Whitlock in a show billed as a multi-generational family saga rooted in southern hill country. The cast also includes Michael Rooker, Maggie Grace, Matt Barr, West Duchovny, Chase Stokes and Devon Allman, with John Fusco creating the series and Taylor Elmore serving as showrunner; McRae, whose credits include "The Lowdown" and "Alaska Daily," is repped by Gersh.
