Hulu’s ‘Ted Lasso’ Replacement Officially Sets 2026 Release Date
Hulu has confirmed that "Chad Powers," Glen Powell's football comedy filling the sports-comedy niche popularised by "Ted Lasso," will return for its second season on 3 September 2026. The renewal comes despite a mixed critical reception for the first season, which nonetheless proved popular enough with audiences to secure a quick follow-up less than a year after its debut, keeping Hulu competitive in a genre currently being explored by rivals such as Netflix's "The Hawk" and Apple TV's "Stick".
Season one saw Powell's disgraced football star Russ Holliday adopt a disguise to return to the sport as "Chad Powers," a walk-on for the South Georgia Catfish. Season two picks up with Chad established as a star player, but facing rising jeopardy after love interest and assistant coach Ricky (Perry Mattfield) discovers his true identity. New promotional images show him refining his disguise as suspicion grows from Coach Hudson (Steve Zahn) and Gerry (Colton Ryan), while Ricky is seen meeting with Russ and his roommate Danny (Frankie A. Rodriguez), suggesting she may reluctantly help keep the secret alive as the team chases the College Football Playoffs.
