Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has suggested that bringing Kingpin into a Spider-Man film may be less complicated than fans assume, despite persistent rumours of rights obstacles. The remark counters previous comments from Vincent D'Onofrio, who plays Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, who has said his character can currently only appear in television projects and not in a standalone or Spider-Man film due to ownership issues. The comments will fuel speculation about the character's future big-screen role, given Feige's track record of untangling complex rights situations for other Marvel properties.

Speaking to Josh Horowitz, Feige was asked whether Kingpin and Daredevil had ever been considered for roles in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. He downplayed concerns over rights, saying "there are things to navigate like everything else" and confirming "we talked about all those characters at one point." Feige has previously overseen the complicated integration of Spider-Man, the X-Men, Fantastic Four and Daredevil into the MCU despite similar rights entanglements with studios such as Sony and Universal, lending weight to the idea he could achieve the same for Kingpin.
