Tom Holland has said Sony considered eventually bringing his Spider-Man into its separate universe of Spider-Man-related films, including Tom Hardy’s Venom, but never found the right creative moment. His comments clarify that the absence of a full crossover was not caused by disputes or resistance from him, despite long-running speculation over how Sony’s Marvel projects might connect.

Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Holland said there were no attempts to force him into films he did not want to make. He said Sony instead had confidence in the Spider-Man films made with director Jon Watts and Marvel Studios, while its own universe expanded through Venom, Morbius, Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter; planned links between the franchises ultimately did not materialise.
