Oscar-winning Disney animator Glen Keane was rescued by helicopter after becoming exhausted and stranded on a narrow ridge during a hike on Mummy Mountain in Paradise Valley, Arizona. The incident highlights the risks of tackling familiar but demanding terrain, particularly as rescue operations can also endanger emergency crews.

Keane, 72, was hiking with his grandchildren near his childhood home when his legs and arms began shaking after the ascent. Phoenix Fire Department personnel airlifted him to a safe landing area; he was not injured and declined hospital transport. Keane spent 38 years at Disney creating characters including Ariel, the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas and Tarzan, and won a 2018 Oscar for Dear Basketball.
