Selleck said the cast and producers accepted a 25% pay cut and took other steps to sustain the drama, which ended in 2024 after 14 seasons, although he referred to it as its fifteenth year. He said it ranked sixth among broadcast television’s top 100 shows in its final year; Nielsen data cited by The Hollywood Reporter places it seventh in network-TV viewers for the 2024–25 season, with its older audience less likely to use delayed viewing or streaming. The franchise has continued on CBS through Boston Blue, led by Donnie Wahlberg’s character Danny Reagan.
