DC Studios and HBO’s planned “Booster Gold” television series will not move forward, according to writer David Jenkins. The decision removes another project from DC’s rebooted screen universe and highlights uncertainty around parts of its originally announced slate.

Jenkins, creator of HBO’s “Our Flag Means Death”, was hired in July 2025 to write the pilot and potentially serve as showrunner. The series was announced in 2023, while James Gunn said as recently as April that it remained in development; DC Studios did not respond to Variety’s request for comment. Booster Gold is a time-travelling DC hero who returns from the future and poses as a celebrity.
