London Brown has reflected on the death of his character Marvin in the penultimate episode of Power Book III: Raising Kanan, where Marvin is killed by Kanan after violently attacking him earlier in the season. The episode is significant because Kanan’s decision moves him closer to the ruthless version of the character viewers know from the original Power series, while also setting up the show’s fifth and final season.

The episode also sees Jukebox take revenge for the death of her friend Fame by killing crime bosses Snaps and Pop Henry, who had manipulated events around the Thomas family since season three. Snaps and Pop had fuelled Kanan’s belief that his mother Raq was responsible for the deaths of Fame and Krystal, helped bring Breeze into Kanan’s orbit, and demanded hits on Raq and Marvin following Defcon’s murder.
