Inde Navarrette has said she would like to play Mystique in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after meeting X-Men director Jake Schreier. The actor stressed that no casting decision has been confirmed, but her comments add to speculation about Marvel’s efforts to assemble a younger X-Men cast.

Navarrette, who recently appeared in low-budget horror hit Obsession, told Variety she grew up watching the 2000 X-Men films and was especially interested in Mystique’s prosthetic make-up process. She praised Schreier’s character-driven approach in Thunderbolts* and said their meeting was one of many professional discussions; meanwhile, Samara Weaving has reportedly been confirmed as Emma Frost, while Rebecca Romijn is due to reprise Mystique in Avengers: Doomsday later this year.
