Keira Knightley has reflected on briefly exposing her breasts in the 2001 psychological thriller The Hole, saying she would not allow her own 15-year-old daughter to do the same. Although she says she did not feel negatively about the scene at the time, her comments highlight changing attitudes towards safeguarding young performers and sexualised scenes involving minors.

Knightley was 15 when the film was made and appeared alongside Thora Birch and Laurence Fox. She said she enjoyed the work and viewed an actor’s body as part of the job, but added that she would now draw a different boundary as a parent; she also clarified that reports she would no longer film sex scenes with male directors had misrepresented her position.
