Chris Pine’s Answer to ‘Reacher’ Surges to #1 on Paramount+
Chris Pine’s 2022 action thriller The Contractor has reached number one on Paramount+, showing renewed streaming interest despite its weak cinema release and mixed critical reception. Its performance suggests that male-targeted action titles can retain a long shelf life on streaming services, much like Yellowstone and Reacher.
The film, directed by Tarik Saleh and co-starring Gillian Jacobs and Ben Foster, earned only $2 million at the box office. It has nevertheless spent more than 100 days on the US iTunes chart, according to FlixPatrol, and has developed a stronger audience response over time: Rotten Tomatoes lists a 45% critics’ score and 72% audience score.
