Minnesota health investigators found that Covered Bridge Assisted Living in Holdingford neglected a resident by providing him with large amounts of alcohol before a medical appointment. The case raises concerns about safeguarding vulnerable residents and whether care staff appropriately monitored a man with mental illness.

Investigators said resident Don Brambrink was given 18 shots of liquor in the 24 hours before his appointment, as well as beer at 5am. Authorities became involved after he missed a scheduled telehealth appointment because he had drunk too much while fishing; the facility was cited for neglect.
